AFC HAM BURGER
Using nothing more than LIGHTLIFE TOFU PUPS and LIGHTLIFE GIMME LEAN SAUSGE along with some raw sweet onion, we make the HAM Burger. Love it! So easy too. Tastes like ham to me!
Makes approx. 13, 1/3 cup patties
12 oz. pkg. SMART DOG veggie hot dogs, thawed and cut into chunks
1 c. lg. dice sweet onion
14 oz. tube Gimme Lean Meatless Sausage, thawed
Place cut hot dogs and onion in food processor. Pulse repeatedly, then process to evenly crumbly textured bits. Transfer to large mixing bowl.
Break off pieces of sausage into mixing bowl with hot dog crumble. Using hands mash and stir and mash till hot dog bits stick to the sausage mix – no loose bits. This takes a few minutes, so be patient, you’ll get there.
Let burger dough set for about an hour while you do something else.
When ready: Form dough into 1/3 cup balls firmly in palms to make them equally dense throughout.
Press evenly in palms, then place on counter top and press and round edges evenly to about 1/3 inch thick – no thicker. Too thick won’t cook evenly in the middle. We want any even fry.
Pan-fry in a little oil over medium heat like you would the sausage, according to package instructions, till done to your liking.
This time I tried something new. Pan-fry till done, then top with a slice of dairy-free cheese, splatter a few drops of cold water in skillet, cover burger with lid till steam melts the cheese.
- Spread 2 slices pumpernickel bread with stadium mustard on both slices, and veg mayo on one slice.
- Pile fresh curly parsley onto mayo-mustard side.
- Place cooked cheese-topped burger on mustard side.
- Close, cut and eat.
Notes: Ever try fresh curly parsley on a cheeseburger with mustard and mayo? Gotta have it!
