MEATLESS BEEFLESS TIPS

Gardein brand beefless tips sauteed in a  BLACK & RED BARBECUE SAUCE. Garnished with scallion and sesame seed! Serve alone, or with a side of rice and/or veggies!

Serves 2

Black & Red Barbecue Sauce – makes about 1-1/2 cups

1/3 c. ketchup

2 T. prepared yellow mustard

1/3 c. Red Russian Dressing (for salads)

2 T. black strap molasses

1 T. Worcestershire sauce

2 t. liquid smoke

1/4 c. dark brown sugar

1/4 c. white sugar

3 T. Balsamic vinegar

1/2 t. salt

1 t. garlic powder

lots of freshly ground black pepper

Combine all ingredients in bowl, stirring after each addition and till smooth and evenly incorporated. Adjust for salt. Take out 3/4 cup for this dish, then store remainder in covered container in refrigerator for another use.

olive oil for frying

thinly sliced scallion

sesame seed (white)

In large skillet, over medium heat, drizzle 2-3 tablespoons olive oil. Heat till very hot, then add frozen beefless tips all at once. Saute on most sides till tender, hot and charred in some places.

Add 3/4 c. barbecue sauce to skillet. Immediately cover tightly with lid, then shake pan around on burner to coat beefless tips. Cook, covered, about 1 minute, then remove from heat. Stir, then lift tips to individual serving plates, along with a little extra sauce. Sprinkle with thinly sliced scallion and sesame seed.

Notes: Serve alone or with a side of rice and/or veggies.
